| Name: Brian H. Koch Born: Salt Lake City, UT Currently: Salt Lake City, UT Age: 33 I was raised in the mountain-surrounded basin of Vernal, Utah. I have fond memories of the quiet rural farmlands that were a great part of my childhood. It was an inspiring place to grow-up and an amazing place to experience the outdoors. After high school I spent a few years experiencing life through varying educational pursuits and life adventures. I received a Fine Arts degree from BYU’s with an emphasis in Illustration. The Illustration program taught me tremendous technical skills in both drawing and painting and more specifically its figurative applications. In my studies I had the opportunity to study under and learn a great deal from Robert Barrett and William Whitaker. After graduating I dedicated a year solely to painting in which time I found my rural roots coming out in the landscapes I painted. In the spring of ’05 I took up representation with the “A” Gallery of Salt Lake City and found immediate success. In September of 2005 I was highlighted in Southwest Art’s annual “21 under 31” article. I continue to watch my work progress and evolve. In the past year I have developed a more loose & fluid painting process of which I am really thrilled. The viewer is making a great connection to this new development and it has found great success. I currently live in Draper where I paint in my home studio. Although I have lived in the Salt Lake area for over 14 years, Vernal will always resonate in my heart as home and the inspiration for much of my work. A Gallery1321 S. 2100 E.
